The NACAS Accredited Micro Provider Programme will build on the success and legacy of the Somerset County Council's Micro Provider Programme by continuing to offer help, advice and specialist signposting to anyone with an idea to develop and set up a small service.

Quality Assurance and Verification

NACAS and SCC are working together to support social care micro providers in Somerset, enhancing quality, compliance, and verification processes to foster robust and reliable services. Each organisation’s distinct responsibilities aim to create a comprehensive oversight and support structure.

SCC will oversee

  • Quality Assurance: Conduct all quality assurance activities for social care micro providers, ensuring services align with SCC standards and statutory requirements. All Micro-providers must commit to the Doing it Right Quality Standard.
  • All  accredited providers will be held accountable to these standards through the Quality Assurance Process
  • Compliance Monitoring: Handle compliance checks to verify adherence to national and local regulations, safeguarding policies, and relevant codes of practice.
  • Ongoing Support: Provide guidance and resources to micro providers for improving care quality and meeting regulatory requirements.

NACAS will oversee

  • Verification Services: Undertake responsibility for verifying the credentials, training, and backgrounds of micro providers, ensuring they meet professional standards.
  • Certification: Issue certifications to qualifying micro providers as evidence of verified standards in training and competency.
  • Support and Advice: Offer advisory services to micro providers on improving verification and credentialing standards.
